State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs Balaam Ateenyi has called on Ugandans to show up in large numbers for President Yoweri Museveni’s nomination rally at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

In a statement shared on X, Balaam described the event as a “historic moment,” stressing that Museveni’s smooth path to nomination reflects strength and stability within the ruling party.

He noted that some opposition contenders had reportedly struggled to secure the minimum signatures required by the Electoral Commission.

“I call upon all Ugandans to turn up in millions for the nomination rally of our father of the nation, H.E. President Kaguta Museveni. This is a historic moment, especially as other presidential contenders have failed to gather the signatures required by the Electoral Commission,” Balaam wrote.

The rally, set for tomorrow, is expected to draw members of both the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), the movement led by Museveni’s son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba. Balaam emphasized that attendance for PLU supporters was not optional, framing it as a directive from Gen. Muhoozi, who also serves as the movement’s chairman.

“To all members of General Muhoozi kainerugaba’s movement, your presence is a must — this is a directive from our Chairman and leader,” Balaam added.

The Kololo event will mark the official start of President Museveni’s campaign ahead of the 2026 general elections, where he is widely expected to seek another term.

His candidacy has continued to stir debate, with supporters hailing him as a guarantor of peace and critics pointing to his nearly four decades in power.

Security agencies have already heightened preparations, with Kololo set to host thousands for what NRM officials describe as a show of unity and strength.
