President Yoweri Museveni on Sunday, January 18, officially received the declaration confirming his re-election as President of Uganda.
In a statement on X, Museveni expressed gratitude to God, his wife Janet Museveni, members of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), government leaders, institutions, and all Ugandans who contributed to maintaining peace and stability during the election period.
Addressing the nation, Museveni highlighted the main focus areas for his new term.
He emphasized safeguarding peace and security, eradicating household poverty, promoting national unity, enforcing discipline in governance, and supporting wealth creators to expand Uganda’s economy.
The president underlined that maintaining stability and a focus on progress would remain central to his administration’s agenda.
Museveni’s declaration coincided with the celebration of Uganda’s Liberation Day, a national occasion marking the country’s historic struggle for freedom and governance under the current system.
He concluded his statement by wishing all Ugandans a happy Liberation Day.
This marks another chapter in Museveni’s long tenure, during which the government continues to prioritize national cohesion and economic development amid regional and domestic challenges.
The president’s remarks are expected to set the tone for his administration’s legislative and policy agenda in the coming term.
