State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Balaam Ateenyi, has condemned the killing of an 18-year-old student in Wakiso District, insisting that the suspect must face the full force of the law.

The incident has sparked public concern and renewed debate on child protection and violence within communities.

Police arrested Musasizi Herbert, 41, in Gulu District in connection with the death of Bukenya Martin. The fatal incident occurred on February 14, 2026, at about 8:00 pm in Mabanda Cell, Gombe Division, Wakiso District.

Preliminary reports indicate that Bukenya, a student at Hillside Secondary School Matugga, was allegedly beaten to death after he was reportedly found inside the suspect’s house with the man’s 14-year-old daughter.

The teenager resided in Kirinyabigo, Kawanda, in Nabweru Division.

Security agencies tracked down and apprehended the suspect several days after the incident.

Authorities confirmed he remains in custody as investigations continue and case files are being prepared for prosecution.

Minister Ateenyi praised security forces for their swift operation and urged parents and guardians to handle disputes through lawful means.

He emphasized that protecting children and young people is a national responsibility and warned against taking justice into one’s own hands.

The incident has stirred grief and anger among residents, with community members calling for justice and stronger sensitization on child protection and peaceful conflict resolution.

Police have appealed for calm, assuring the public that due process will be followed and that anyone found guilty will be prosecuted under Ugandan law.
