A section of Uganda’s legal fraternity has sharply criticized the arrest of senior lawyer and opposition leader Erias Lukwago, arguing that he was merely performing his professional duty when he attempted to serve court documents on Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

Senior advocate Isaac Newton Mpanga weighed into the controversy with a pointed statement suggesting that anger over the court process was being directed at the wrong person.

“Summons are not issued by lawyers. Summons are issued by the Judiciary. Receive the summons and ascertain which judicial officer issued them, then take them for Swahili lessons. Otherwise you are in the basement with the wrong lawyer,” Mpanga wrote. GET FULL STORY HERE.
