Victoria University Vice Chancellor Dr Lawrence Mugangwa has joined the media fraternity in mourning the tragic deaths of Next Media employees Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndamagye, who perished in a road accident along the Kampala–Entebbe Road.

In a solemn message released on Friday, Dr Mugangwa described the news as “heartbreaking” and difficult to comprehend, as he extended condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.

“Today has brought heartbreaking news that is difficult to comprehend,” he said. “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Producer Kasirye Badru and content creator Isaac Ndamagye.”

The two media professionals died in the early hours of the morning following a crash at Namulanda, near the Stabex area. According to preliminary police reports, the accident involved a Toyota Allex and a Toyota Hilux, with the latter allegedly losing control and veering into the opposite lane, causing a fatal head-on collision.

Both Kasirye and Ndamagye died at the scene, while a third victim, Brian “Macona” Ssemanda, survived with critical injuries. He is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit at Kisubi Hospital.

Dr Mugangwa expressed solidarity with the Next Media Services team, noting the profound loss the organization is facing.

“My heartfelt condolences go to their families, friends, loved ones, and everyone mourning their loss. May God grant you strength, comfort, and peace during this incredibly difficult time,” he said.

He added that his thoughts remain with the injured survivor, expressing hope for his recovery.

“My thoughts are especially with the entire Next Media Services family as you mourn the loss of two colleagues while also holding on to hope for Brian Macona, who remains in the ICU. Brian, we are praying for your healing and believing in your full and speedy recovery.”

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Mulago City Mortuary for post-mortem examinations as investigations into the crash continue.

“May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace,” Dr Mugangwa said. “May God comfort every grieving heart, and may He restore Brian to full health.”
