A fresh diplomatic and political controversy has emerged after prominent Kenyan opposition politician and former Justice Minister Martha Karua was reportedly prevented from entering Uganda upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport on Monday morning.

The development comes at a sensitive moment as Uganda awaits a key court decision regarding the bail application of Kampala Lord Mayor and opposition lawyer Erias Lukwago, whose recent arrest and prosecution have attracted significant public attention both within Uganda and across the region.

According to lawyer Eron Kizza, Karua arrived in Uganda intending to observe court proceedings related to Lukwago's case. However, shortly after landing at Entebbe International Airport, she was allegedly stopped by immigration authorities and prevented from proceeding into the country.

Kizza claimed that Karua was being held at the airport without a clear explanation and faced the possibility of deportation back to Kenya.

“The Ugandan government has blocked Martha Karua from entering Uganda to attend and observe the bail ruling of Erias Lukwago,” Kizza alleged in a statement shared on social media. GET FULL STORY HERE.
