Barbie Kyagulanyi has publicly reaffirmed her love for her husband, National Unity Platform (NUP) president Bobi Wine, as the couple marked 25 years since they got engaged.
Barbie, whose relationship with the Ugandan opposition leader has spanned a quarter of a century, shared an affectionate message celebrating their enduring bond and the journey they have taken together.
In her statement, Barbie described Bobi Wine as the person who continues to bring happiness to her heart while also being a source of calm and strength during difficult moments.
“You are still the one that makes my heart smile, my calm and my storm,” Barbie said.
She further expressed her commitment to the relationship, saying she would make the same choice to be with Bobi Wine even at the end of her life.
“I’d still choose you even on my last day of this life. Happy Anniversary Kibanda wange,” she added.
The message came shortly after Bobi Wine also celebrated the milestone, reflecting on the couple’s 25 years of love and 15 years of marriage.
Bobi Wine said their journey had been marked by countless memories, happiness, tears and challenges, but noted that they had remained together through the different seasons of their lives.
The NUP leader also told his wife that he loved her more than he did 25 years ago and that, if given another opportunity, he would choose her “again and again.”
The exchange offered a glimpse into the personal side of the couple, who have become one of the most recognisable families in Uganda’s public life.
Their relationship has continued through Bobi Wine’s transformation from a celebrated musician into a leading opposition politician and presidential candidate.
Barbie has also remained a prominent public figure, frequently accompanying her husband at political and public events while maintaining her own initiatives and interests.
The couple’s anniversary has therefore drawn attention not only to their personal journey but also to the partnership that has accompanied them through major changes in their lives.
For Barbie, however, the occasion appeared to be less about politics and more about celebrating the man she has shared her life with.
Her brief but emotional message echoed Bobi Wine’s sentiments, with both reaffirming that despite the challenges and changes they have experienced over the years, they would still choose each other.
