The Parliament of Uganda on Wednesday held a solemn tribute to Hon. Apolot Stella Isodo, the District Woman MP for Ngora, who passed away on Saturday, 17th January 2026.

The address was delivered by Parliament Speaker Anita Among, who described Hon. Apolot as a “colleague, sister, and friend” whose contributions to the legislature and her community were widely respected.

Hon. Apolot was a prominent member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party and served on multiple parliamentary committees, including Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Equal Opportunities, and National Economy.

She was also actively involved in the Parliamentary Sports Club, where she played netball, reflecting her engagement beyond legislative duties.

Speaker Among highlighted Hon. Apolot’s commitment to women’s rights and grassroots development, noting her role as spokesperson for the Teso Parliamentary Group.

“She was a passionate leader who championed development initiatives for the Teso sub-region and brought professional expertise in agriculture to inform policy debates,” she said.

Hon. Apolot’s passing marks the seventh loss among members of Uganda’s 11th Parliament.

Speaker Among urged colleagues and the public to reflect on their legacies, quoting 2 Samuel 14:14 on the inevitability of death, and emphasizing the enduring impact of service and leadership.

The Parliament extended condolences to Hon. Apolot’s family, constituents in Ngora, the FDC Party, and all Ugandans.

Speaker Among concluded by praying for divine protection and favor for the bereaved and commended Hon. Apolot as a resourceful legislator whose dedication will be “vividly remembered.”

Her death leaves a significant void in both parliamentary leadership and advocacy for women’s empowerment in Uganda.
