KAMPALA — A wave of controversy swept across Uganda on Monday after Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba shared a photograph appearing to show opposition leader Erias Lukwago in detention, accompanied by a statement that triggered intense reactions from politicians, activists, and ordinary citizens.

The development followed the dramatic arrest of Lukwago, the president of the People's Front for Freedom (PFF) and one of the lawyers representing veteran opposition politician Dr Kizza Besigye.

According to PFF Secretary General Ssemujju Ibrahim Nganda, Lukwago was scheduled to serve court documents on Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba on Monday morning in relation to legal proceedings connected to Besigye's alleged abduction from Nairobi, Kenya, in November 2024.

Speaking to journalists in Kampala, Ssemujju claimed that Lukwago was seized from his residence in Wakaliga by armed men dressed in military uniforms before he could carry out the legal process.

“Dr Besigye wants the court to deal with Muhoozi Kainerugaba and two other soldiers. They are the ones who kidnapped him from Kenya. Lukwago was going to serve court papers this morning,” Ssemujju said.GET FULL STORY HERE.
