Kitgum Woman Member of Parliament Lilian Aber has openly supported the government’s intensified anti-corruption push following remarks by Chief of Defence Forces General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who announced expanded security operations targeting suspected corrupt officials.

Aber’s remarks come at a time when security agencies are conducting investigations linked to Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, whose properties were recently searched in a widening probe into alleged corruption and asset declaration irregularities.

Reacting to Muhoozi’s statement, Aber praised the move and described it as a long-awaited intervention in the fight against corruption.

“This is the leadership Uganda has been praying for! Operation Maliza Ufisadi is long overdue and we fully support it. No one is above the law. Thank you Afande and the Commander-in-Chief for this bold move,” she said.

Muhoozi, in his earlier statement, confirmed that security forces had already begun a coordinated operation and warned that it would be expanded further.

“The security forces under the direction and instructions of the Commander-in-Chief launched Operation ‘Maliza Ufisadi’ the other day. We shall expand this operation and apprehend all culprits. No one will be spared,” he said.

The statement has triggered fresh debate across political circles, especially as investigations linked to Among continue to unfold.

Security teams drawn from the Criminal Investigations Directorate and other units reportedly carried out searches at several properties, including homes in Nakasero, Ntinda and Kigo, as part of efforts to trace possible irregular assets and financial inconsistencies.

The probe is tied to allegations of corruption, illicit enrichment and possible breaches of Uganda’s Leadership Code Act.

Investigators are examining whether declared wealth matches known assets and whether any misuse of public office may have occurred during Among’s leadership in Parliament.

The case was triggered by a complaint filed with the Inspectorate of Government by a group of lawyers, prompting preliminary reviews before full investigations.
