Reports emerging from Uganda indicate that former Kira Municipality MP and People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) Secretary General Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda is allegedly still outside the country, with sources claiming he relocated to Saudi Arabia amid fears of arrest in an ongoing security operation targeting opposition figures.

According to multiple accounts, Ssemujju is said to have left Uganda after receiving a tip-off that he was among individuals under investigation in what authorities reportedly describe as a plot to destabilize President Yoweri Museveni’s government.

The alleged crackdown is said to involve senior opposition politicians, including former Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and veteran opposition figure Dr Kizza Besigye.

Sources familiar with the matter claim that Ssemujju became apprehensive after learning that Special Forces Command (SFC) operatives had been deployed to arrest Lukwago on treason-related charges.

It is further alleged that Ssemujju’s name was to be included in the same case file alongside other high-profile political figures.

Additional claims suggest that Ssemujju recently mobilized significant financial resources—reportedly amounting to Sh1.5 billion—to facilitate a PFF delegates’ conference.

The origin of the funds has become a subject of speculation, with some sources alleging links to senior political actors seeking to expand their influence.

However, these claims remain unsubstantiated and have not been independently verified.

There are also allegations circulating within security circles that investigations have been ongoing into financial transactions involving several politicians and business figures.

Claims that funds were transferred across borders despite international sanctions on certain individuals have not been confirmed by official agencies.

Meanwhile, insiders suggest that Ssemujju may be considering prolonged exile, citing concerns over his safety and the current political environment. There has been no official communication from Ssemujju regarding his whereabouts or intentions.

The developments come at a time of heightened political tension in Uganda, with increased scrutiny on opposition activities and growing concerns among civil society groups about the state of political freedoms.
