“I Warned Ugandans About This in 2005” — Besigye’s Old Warning on Muhoozi Resurfaces as CDF’s Presidential Ambitions Take Center Stage

A political warning made by veteran opposition leader Kizza Besigye more than two decades ago has resurfaced in national debate as CDF Muhoozi Kainerugaba continues to attract attention over his increasingly visible political ambitions.

The renewed discussion comes as Muhoozi's public profile expands beyond military affairs, with analysts and political observers revisiting claims first made by Besigye in 2005 during Uganda’s transition back to multiparty politics.

At the time, Besigye had returned from exile to challenge President Yoweri Museveni in the 2006 general election. During that period, he alleged that the President was laying the foundation for a long-term succession project centered on his son, Muhoozi.
