Winnie Byanyima has firmly dismissed calls for her to leave Uganda, declaring that she has no intention of going into exile despite what she describes as increasing political pressure targeting her family and opposition figures.

In a public statement, Byanyima said several supporters had urged her to seek safety outside the country following the continued detention of her husband, opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye, and reports surrounding the disappearance of former minister Miria Matembe.

However, she insisted that leaving Uganda was never an option. "I will not flee Uganda. We will not bow to intimidation or abandon our country," Byanyima said. She accused Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba of making threatening remarks directed at both her and Besigye, arguing that such statements contribute to an atmosphere of fear and political intimidation. GET FULL STORY HERE.
