Dr. Kizza Besigye and Samuel Lubega Mukaku, prominent Ugandan opposition politicians, are currently facing court for charges related to inciting violence during protests against rising commodity prices in June 2022.
Their lawyers have asked the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court to dismiss the evidence provided by the prosecution’s Scene of Crime Officer, Sergeant Steven Oryema, who testified about items found in their vehicle during their arrest. The court session is presided over by Grade One Magistrate Winnie Nankya Jatiko.
Sergeant Oryema testified that he discovered placards with messages such as “Time Up, Time Out” and a megaphone allegedly used to encourage protests. GET FULL STORY HERE.
