Residents of Buhoma Town Council in Kanungu District took to the streets in protest, expressing growing frustration over what they describe as decades of unfulfilled government promises to construct key roads considered vital to the region's economic development.

The demonstrations, which temporarily disrupted movement in parts of the district, centered on demands for the long-awaited upgrading of the Hamurwa–Kerere–Kanungu road and the Kanyantorogo–Butogota–Ruhija road.

Community members say the projects have been repeatedly promised by government leaders but remain unimplemented despite numerous assurances over the years.

The roads are regarded as crucial transport links for tourism, trade, and local business activity in southwestern Uganda. Residents argue that their poor condition continues to hinder economic growth and limit opportunities in one of the country's most important tourism regions.GET FULL STORY HERE.
