The Parliament of Uganda has formally bid farewell to the outgoing Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Frederieke Quispel, following the conclusion of her diplomatic tour in the country.
During a meeting held at Parliament, Speaker Jacob Oboth Oboth lauded the ambassador for her role in strengthening relations between Uganda and Netherlands.
He credited her tenure with advancing cooperation across key development sectors, including governance, agriculture, and water management.
Oboth described Quispel’s service as impactful and timely, noting that her efforts had reinforced a long-standing partnership built on mutual respect and shared priorities.
He added that Uganda had benefited from sustained Dutch support, particularly in programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and institutional capacity.
“The Government and people of Uganda deeply appreciate the commitment demonstrated by Ambassador Quispel throughout her tenure,” Oboth said, emphasizing the importance of continuity in bilateral engagement even after her departure.
The Speaker also expressed optimism that the strong diplomatic ties nurtured during her assignment would endure, urging the outgoing envoy to remain an advocate for Uganda on the global stage.
He extended best wishes for her next posting and encouraged her to maintain close ties with the country.
Quispel’s tenure has been marked by active diplomatic engagement and support for development initiatives aligned with Uganda’s national priorities.
The Netherlands remains one of Uganda’s key European partners, with collaboration spanning trade, climate resilience, and human rights.
Her departure comes at a time when Uganda continues to seek strengthened international partnerships to drive economic growth and sustainable development. Parliament indicated that it looks forward to continued cooperation with the Netherlands under her successor.
