Journalist and political commentator Samson Kasumba has lauded Kira Municipality Member of Parliament Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda as a man of firm convictions who is unafraid to stand by his principles, even at the cost of his political future.

In a reflective post on X, Kasumba described Ssemujju as a politician who values integrity over popularity, saying he is content to walk away from politics if his constituents no longer believe in his leadership.

“Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda is a man of convictions. He will not mind if the people he represents think he is not what they want anymore. He will very happily go do other things. That is Ssemujju for you,” Kasumba wrote.

The veteran journalist added that Ssemujju has been consistent in his approach to politics, often reminding his constituents in Kira that they are “lucky to have him.”

Kasumba characterized the legislator as a man of “methods and his word,” known for speaking his mind regardless of political consequences.

Ssemujju, a former journalist and spokesperson for the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), has built a reputation for his outspoken stance on governance and accountability.

His independent political style and refusal to conform to party or populist pressure have often made him both admired and controversial in equal measure.

Kasumba’s remarks come at a time when political debates in Uganda are intensifying ahead of the 2026 elections, with several long-serving MPs facing questions about their political relevance.

His comment appeared to portray Ssemujju as one of the few politicians who remain unmoved by the lure of political survival, choosing instead to hold firm to his beliefs.
