National Unity Platform (NUP) President Bobi Wine has called on his supporters to actively monitor polling stations as Uganda prepares for elections scheduled for tomorrow.

In a statement released on social media, Wine urged citizens to act as de facto election observers to ensure transparency.

Wine acknowledged that NUP polling agents might face harassment, obstruction, or arrest during the voting process.

He encouraged volunteers to remain at polling stations while maintaining a 20-metre distance and to document any irregularities using their cameras.

Supporters are asked to share evidence both online and through designated WhatsApp contacts provided by the party.

In addition, Wine emphasized the importance of tracking and recording results.

He instructed volunteers to photograph the Declaration of Results (DR) forms, which by law must be publicly displayed at each polling station.

These photographs are to be uploaded through the NUP’s election monitoring app, which can function offline and sync automatically once internet connectivity is restored.

“This is a collective responsibility,” Wine stated. “Even if our agents are blocked or arrested, we can ensure transparency by documenting the DR forms and uploading the evidence.”

The NUP leader framed this as a crucial step to safeguard the electoral process against what he described as potential attempts by the government to disrupt voting.

The party’s call highlights growing concerns over electoral integrity and reflects ongoing tensions between opposition supporters and security forces in Uganda.

Wine concluded by urging all citizens to participate, observe, and document, emphasizing that “everyone has a role to play in protecting the vote.”
