President Yoweri Museveni on Monday presented the National Resistance Movement (NRM) 2026–2031 Manifesto to residents of Bukonzo East Constituency, Kasese District, outlining his government’s development priorities for the next five years.

Speaking at his first rally in the region, Museveni emphasized the district’s potential in generating wealth and employment through three key sectors: commercial agriculture, services—including tourism, wildlife, and mountaineering—and manufacturing.

He highlighted initiatives such as Emyooga, practical skills programs, and the expansion of Presidential Skilling Hubs as central to empowering local communities.

The President also addressed infrastructural needs, calling for more roads and road construction equipment to support Kasese’s growth.

He reaffirmed government commitments to social welfare, including pensions for the people of Rwenzururu, the resettlement of the Banyabindi community, and the preservation and development of historical memorial sites like Katebwa.

As the country approaches the January 15 general elections, Museveni urged all Ugandans to participate actively in the voting process, urging them to support the NRM to “consolidate the gains made and move forward together.”
