Bukoto East Member of Parliament Ronald Kanyike has delivered a heartfelt farewell message as the 11th Parliament of Uganda draws to a close, reflecting on what he described as a defining chapter of public service between 2021 and 2026.
In a statement shared as his parliamentary term winds down, Kanyike expressed gratitude to his constituents, colleagues, and political party, saying his time in the House had been the highest honour of his life.
“As I conclude my chapter of service in the 11th Parliament, I am filled with profound gratitude. Serving the people of Bukoto East Constituency in Parliament from 2021 to 2026 has been the highest honor of my life,” he said.
The legislator, who served under the National Unity Platform (NUP), credited his political journey to the trust placed in him by voters and the support system around him, including his party leadership.
“To my constituents, friends, and family—thank you for the overwhelming support and prayers during my 5 years in Parliament. It has been a privilege to be your voice, fighting for our shared values and ensuring our community's needs were met at the highest level,” Kanyike stated.
He further noted that public encouragement and engagement from residents of Bukoto East played a central role in shaping his legislative priorities and advocacy in Parliament.
“Your passion and encouragement have been my strength. Together, we have worked tirelessly to uphold our shared principles, champion vital causes, and build a stronger future,” he added.
Kanyike also extended appreciation to the National Unity Platform leadership, singling out party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, for entrusting him with the parliamentary seat, as well as fellow legislators and his parliamentary staff.
“I thank my party National Unity Platform (NUP) and my President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu for the trust, my colleagues for your collaboration, and my staff for your unwavering dedication behind the scenes,” he said.
While marking the end of his parliamentary tenure, the MP indicated that his political commitment remains active, pointing to continued advocacy for national reform.
“I am deeply humbled by the journey we’ve taken together and eager to see our community thrive as we continue to push for the total liberation of our country from the NRA state capture. While my role changes, my commitment to our nation’s progress remains steadfast,” he concluded.
