Samuel Mugabe Kabyesiza, widely known online as Jungle Man Ug, has announced a salary increase in the United Kingdom, framing it as a significant personal milestone following his relocation abroad.
In a Facebook post that has since drawn wide engagement, Kabyesiza shared a WhatsApp message from his employer confirming an upward adjustment in his hourly pay.
The announcement was accompanied by emotional reflections on his past employment experience in Uganda and gratitude for his current circumstances.
He wrote: “Lord, I thank you. You don’t know how I felt when I saw this message from my employer in our staff WhatsApp group, what a way to end April. Mukama wamponya ki Uganda Police.”
Kabyesiza contrasted his current situation in the UK with his previous life in Uganda, stating that he had experienced low remuneration and difficult working conditions.
In his post, he further alleged exposure to unethical professional demands during his earlier career, claims that have circulated widely among his followers but remain part of his personal account.
He added: “Imagine earning a peanut monthly salary, living in poor accommodation, and still being forced to do degrading things like torturing innocent people. It’s exhausting, and it’s not right.”
The screenshot he shared shows an official workplace message stating: “SALARY INCREASE: Dear Team, I have the pleasure to inform you that your pay has been increased to £14.80 per hour Monday to Friday & £15.00 per weekend with effect from 1st April 26. I also want to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your contributions over the past year. Thank you.”
While Kabyesiza did not disclose his current job role in the United Kingdom, the update suggests he is now engaged in structured hourly employment, marking a shift from his earlier career in Uganda.
In recent weeks, Kabyesiza has also made a series of posts that have been increasingly critical of the Ugandan government under President Yoweri Museveni.

His commentary, shared across social media platforms, has touched on governance, state institutions, and personal experiences linked to his former public service background.
These remarks have contributed to growing online debate among his followers, with some interpreting his posts as part of a broader diaspora reflection on governance and opportunity disparities between Uganda and the United Kingdom.
Kabyesiza, who has built an online audience through travel content and personal storytelling under the “Jungle Man Ug” brand, continues to document his transition into life abroad.
