A family dispute has ignited debate online after a Europe-based woman shared her frustrations about supporting her younger sister studying at a university in Kampala.

The anonymous confession, shared through Facebook influencer Lyndah Namagandah, highlights the growing financial strain many in the diaspora face while supporting relatives back home.

In the post, the woman explained that she fully caters for her sister’s tuition and hostel fees but is increasingly overwhelmed by constant requests for upkeep.

“I live in Europe and have a sister studying at a certain university in Kampala. I pay for her tuition and hostel, but she can’t even afford to feed herself,” she wrote.

She questioned why her 23-year-old sister has not taken steps toward financial independence despite being in an urban setting with potential opportunities.

“As much as I support her education, I want her to meet me halfway. She waits for money from me or our mother even for simple things like doing her hair,” she added.

The woman revealed that she had tried to help her sister start a small hustle by providing makeup products, but the effort did not yield results.

“I got her makeup items so she could work, but she got no clients. I feel like she’s not trying enough,” she said.

The situation has become more difficult as the woman is currently pregnant and not working, limiting her financial capacity.

“I don’t have much money now. I’m pregnant and not working, but they still ask for money. I can’t keep straining myself,” she explained.

She also noted that she started working at 19 and never had the opportunity to attend university, contrasting her experience with her sister’s current lifestyle.

“I feel like she’s too comfortable. I had to hustle early, but she seems relaxed for her age,” she said.
