Minister for Disaster Preparedness, Relief and Refugees, Lilian Aber, has paid glowing tribute to President Yoweri Museveni following his farewell to the outgoing Cabinet, as the country prepares for the formation of a new government.
Aber’s remarks came after President Museveni chaired the final Cabinet meeting of the 2021–2026 administration and hosted ministers to a luncheon in appreciation of their service.
The meeting marked the official winding down of the current Cabinet ahead of the President’s swearing-in and subsequent appointment of a new team.
In a statement shared on X, Aber described her tenure in government as a privilege, thanking the President for his leadership and mentorship during the period
“Your Excellency. Museveni, it has been the highest honour to serve in this historic Cabinet under your visionary leadership. Together, we have delivered Uganda into middle-income status, which is a milestone that will transform the lives of our people for generations,” she said.
She also expressed gratitude for the farewell luncheon, noting that it symbolised recognition of the Cabinet’s collective efforts in implementing government programmes and policies.
“Thank you for the luncheon and for your endless guidance,” Aber added.
President Museveni, in his own message earlier on Monday, commended members of the outgoing Cabinet for what he described as their dedicated service to the country.
He credited the team with steering Uganda into middle-income status, while also acknowledging the role of the Cabinet Secretariat in managing government business.
"Today, I chaired the final Cabinet meeting of the outgoing government and later hosted members to a luncheon in appreciation of their dedicated service to our country.
This is the Cabinet that ushered Uganda into middle-income status, and I thank everyone who contributed to this achievement, including the Cabinet Secretariat for effectively managing the business of cabinet. I thank them all and wish them good luck," president said.
