Muhoozi Sends Shock Warning: Corrupt Ministers Can Run but Cannot Hide

A renewed anti-corruption push has been signaled within Uganda’s security and political establishment after Chief of Defence Forces Muhoozi Kainerugaba declared that the “Operation Maliza Ufisadi” campaign remains active and will continue targeting corruption across government, including sitting ministers.

In a message, Muhoozi insisted that the operation is not limited to past scandals or specific individuals, warning that those currently serving in government could still face scrutiny if implicated in corrupt dealings.

He emphasized that authority figures and recent appointees should not assume immunity.

“Operation Maliza Ufisadi is still in effect. This is not about the former Speaker, this is about the whole of government. Mzee has not told us to stop,” he said, referring to President Yoweri Museveni, commonly referred to as “Mzee” in political circles.

He added that no one would be shielded from accountability, stressing that corruption would be dealt with regardless of rank or political status.

“Nothing will protect the corrupt. Nothing!” he stated, reinforcing the hardline stance.

Muhoozi further cautioned newly appointed ministers and senior officials who may believe their positions place them beyond reach of enforcement action.

According to him, such assumptions are misguided and will not deter ongoing investigations or disciplinary processes.

“There are some people who think by being appointed Ministers that they are safe. They can run but they cannot hide,” he warned, suggesting that the operation will continue to follow leads within both current and former government structures.

The remarks come amid heightened public attention on governance and accountability in Uganda, where anti-corruption drives have often been announced with strong political backing but mixed public perception regarding enforcement consistency.
