Bukimbiri Member of Parliament Kwizera Eddie has described the latest cabinet appointments by President Yoweri Museveni as a possible sign of political transition, expressing cautious optimism about the inclusion of new faces in the executive.

Speaking during an interview on NBS Television on Thursday night, Kwizera noted that the reshuffle reflects a shift in approach, particularly with the introduction of fresh leaders into key government positions.

He suggested that the changes could mark a turning point in how the administration responds to public expectations.

“When I analyse the new cabinet, I look at some kind of transition by the fact he has brought in new people,” Kwizera said. “It is my hope that this time the new cabinet will meet public expectations.”

The remarks come amid ongoing public debate over the effectiveness and size of the cabinet, with critics questioning whether past appointments have delivered tangible results.

Kwizera’s comments highlight a growing call among leaders for improved performance and accountability within government.

He emphasized the need for clear benchmarks to measure the success of cabinet members, arguing that performance evaluation should be central to governance.

According to the legislator, setting standards would not only enhance service delivery but also restore public confidence in government institutions.

“Cabinet must have a standard by which they will be evaluated by the end of the term,” he stated, underscoring the importance of accountability in public office.

Kwizera’s perspective adds to a broader conversation among policymakers and analysts regarding governance reforms and efficiency in Uganda’s executive arm.

While the appointment of new ministers has been welcomed in some quarters, concerns remain about whether structural challenges within government will be addressed.
