Security agencies have reportedly discovered several luxury vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce, during a search of former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among’s residence in Kigo, as investigations into alleged corruption and money laundering continue.
The search, carried out on Sunday, comes a day after a separate operation was conducted at her Nakasero home in Kampala. The coordinated raids are part of a widening probe involving multiple security and investigative units.
According to officials familiar with the operation, officers spent hours combing through the Kigo property, where they allegedly found a fleet of high-end vehicles.
The Rolls-Royce has particularly drawn attention, coming weeks after reports of its importation into Uganda sparked public debate over its ownership and the cost of clearance.
Earlier reports indicated that the luxury SUV, a Rolls-Royce Cullinan imported from the United Kingdom, had a high market value before taxes and shipping costs significantly raised its final price.
The Uganda Revenue Authority was drawn into scrutiny after figures linked to its clearance circulated widely, triggering questions over taxation and payment arrangements.
The current search is linked to an investigation ordered by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, focusing on allegations of corruption, abuse of office and unexplained wealth accumulation.
Authorities are said to be examining asset declarations, procurement records and financial transactions connected to Among’s tenure as Speaker.
Two members of staff attached to her office were earlier detained and questioned in connection with the probe, according to previous reports.
Security agencies have not officially released details of what was recovered from the Kigo home, and the findings remain under review.
The developments mark a major escalation in a case that has dominated political discussion in recent days, particularly over the scale of assets under scrutiny and the pace of the investigations.
