“The theft occurred during the night of 3rd May 2026, when six laptop computers were stolen from the Bank of Uganda offices along Kampala Road in Kampala.”
Police indicated that initial investigations led to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of two laptops shortly after the incident was reported.
The suspects were taken into custody as detectives pursued further leads believed to be linked to the break-in.
“Following the earlier arrest of two suspects and the recovery of two of the stolen laptops, police conducted rigorous investigations which led to the arrest of two additional suspects, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to four,” the statement added.
According to investigators, the follow-up operation resulted in the recovery of four more laptops, effectively accounting for all the items reported stolen from the central bank offices.
“The additional arrests also led to the recovery of four more laptop computers. All six stolen laptops have now been recovered and are being held as exhibits,” police confirmed.
The suspects have been identified as Kule Boaz Micheal, Kabuya Ramathan alias Rama, Lubangakene Isaac Izoo, and Oedo Jorem Jude.
Authorities say they are currently being processed for court as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the burglary and possible accomplices.
Police further stated that the accused individuals are expected to be arraigned before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 20th May 2026, once procedural requirements are completed.
“They will face charges of office breaking, theft, receiving stolen property, and retaining stolen property,” the statement noted.
