A man who identifies on social media as Timeless Themes has shared a personal account of how he met his wife, describing a journey marked by delayed career stability, relationship setbacks, and a decision to restart his life before eventually settling down.
In his detailed post, he reflected on how his earlier attempts at dating were affected by his financial situation and uncertainty after graduating at the age of 31 in 2022.
“Truth be told, no woman wants to marry a problem laden man. I learned that the hard way,” he wrote.
“Whenever I tried dating and opened up about my situation, the interest would slowly fade. Not suddenly. Slowly. Like a light being turned down.”
He said the experience made him withdraw from dating altogether, choosing instead to focus on rebuilding his life away from pressure and expectations of marriage.
“I stopped dating. I told myself I would not marry until I settled the giraffe,” he added, describing a period of reflection and reset after returning to western Uganda.
After graduation, he secured a job at a private school where he earned about 400,000 shillings as an administrator, plus a 100,000 shillings allowance.
He noted that for the first time in his adult life, he had no debt and lived in staff quarters to cut costs.
Despite this stability, he said family pressure continued to build as relatives questioned his delayed marriage plans.
“The aunties in the village started asking whether a sheep had stepped on me,” he wrote. “But I was not in a hurry. Those things, to me, were for people who already had some standing.”
During that period, he met a mathematics teacher who had come to invigilate national exams at his school.
He initially believed the connection could develop into a relationship, but said things changed once she learned he was not in formal government employment.
“Once she realized I was not on the government payroll, I saw the change. The distance came in quietly,” he said, adding that he chose to step away before being rejected.
He later made a personal decision to marry before turning 33, regardless of his financial position at the time.
He said everything changed when he walked into a local women’s salon and met the woman who would later become his wife.
“Behold! There she was,” he wrote. “Her beauty was not loud. It was steady.”
He described her as calm, focused and skilled in her work, saying that simplicity stood out in contrast to earlier instability in his life.
“We did not take long. Within a month we were together,” he said. “To this day I am still wondering how things could move at such a breakneck speed.”
Reflecting on the outcome, he concluded that timing played a key role in the relationship.
“I did not meet my wife when I had everything. I met her when I had finally found my footing. And she chose to walk with me,” he wrote.
