A close aide linked to opposition politician Bobi Wine has publicly raised concerns over his safety, claiming he has recently received life-threatening messages and fears for his life.
In a Facebook post shared by personal assistant Don Sheriff Najja Ssenyonjo, the aide expressed fears that unnamed individuals he believes to be politically connected may be targeting him.
The message, which has since circulated widely on social media, stated that he was receiving “life-threatening messages” and accused “those responsible for the suffering of others” of potentially seeking to use his death for political attention.
“I refuse to allow those responsible for the suffering of others to use my death for publicity,” the statement read in part.
In a strongly worded directive, he also stated that if anything happens to him, no politician should be allowed to speak at his burial. He described his wish as intended to ensure “truth, dignity, and respect” at his funeral rather than political speeches.
The post further alleged that the perceived threat may be politically motivated, though no specific individuals or groups were named.
It added that his decision should be respected regardless of opposition, insisting that even family members should not override his wishes regarding funeral arrangements.
“NO ONE, I repeat NO ONE has the right and powers to dishonour my wish, not even my family,” the statement emphasized.
The claims have not been independently verified, and no official response has been issued by the individuals or institutions mentioned in the post.
The development adds to ongoing concerns within Uganda’s political environment, where opposition figures and their associates have in the past reported intimidation, arrests, and harassment claims, often linked to heightened political tensions.
