Three days after the reported abduction of National Unity Platform (NUP) activist and journalist Andrew Natumanya, popularly known as Ninye Tabz, party leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has issued a fresh update.

Natumanya was picked up on 17 June 2026 near Kamwokya, close to the former headquarters of National Unity Platform, by armed men operating in an unmarked vehicle.

His disappearance has since triggered concern within opposition circles, with growing calls for clarity on his whereabouts.

In a statement shared on social media, Bobi Wine said efforts to trace the activist have so far yielded no results.

“Three days since his abduction near NUP's former headquarters in Kamwokya on 17th June, comrade Andrew Natumanya 'Tabz' remains missing. Our teams are doing everything possible to locate him but no positive results so far.

We continue to demand his immediate release, and remain committed to ending this impunity once and for all,” he stated.

The opposition leader’s remarks add to mounting pressure on security agencies, as questions persist over the circumstances surrounding Natumanya’s arrest and detention.

NUP officials maintain that he was taken without due process, describing the incident as part of a wider pattern targeting party supporters, activists, and online commentators.

Natumanya, a journalist and political content creator, is known for documenting opposition events and government critics online.

His supporters argue that his work made him increasingly vulnerable amid Uganda’s tense political climate.

Authorities have not yet issued a detailed public statement confirming his location or the reasons for his reported detention.

Previous similar incidents have often involved allegations ranging from cyber-related offenses to public order violations, though critics argue that many such arrests lack transparency.
