Social media personality and activist  Jungle Man UG, widely identified as Samuel Mugabe Kabyesiza and currently based in the United Kingdom, has sparked debate after publishing a strongly worded post accusing unnamed political actors of running coordinated efforts against the National Unity Platform (NUP).

In his online message, the former Police officer claimed that certain individuals were being financed to advance narratives aimed at weakening the opposition party led by Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine.

“Some of the numpties, plonkers and divvies dictator Museveni has paid to fight NUP,” he wrote, setting the tone for a post that quickly circulated across social media platforms.

He further alleged that previous attempts to influence NUP’s political stance had involved political actors pushing for the party to consider engagement with President Yoweri Museveni’s government in exchange for the release of political prisoners.

“After elections, Museveni assigned Muhammad Nsereko to push the nonsense that NUP should bow down before him so political prisoners could be released and gain their freedom,” he claimed.

The activist also claimed that similar strategies had resurfaced in a different form, involving diaspora Ugandans and online influencers allegedly mobilised to support coordinated messaging against the opposition.

“The campaign flopped, even after hiring some diaspora Ugandans to spread it. Now the same stupidity has resurfaced and this time using internet gormless people posing as NUP supporters,” he wrote.

He alleged that the efforts included plans to stage demonstrations and distribute printed materials targeting NUP offices in Kavule, calling on the party to submit to the ruling establishment.

“Funded to print T-shirts and placards to march to NUP offices in Kavule demanding NUP surrender to dictator Museveni and his son. What a tragedy. CRY MY BELOVED COUNTRY,” the post concluded.

The claims, which have not been independently verified, quickly attracted attention online, drawing both support and criticism from different political audiences.

Jungle Man UG, who has in recent years become a vocal critic of the Ugandan government, continues to use his platform to comment on governance and political developments while based in the United Kingdom.
