The National Unity Platform (NUP) has reported the alleged abduction of investigative journalist and online commentator Natumanya Andrew, popularly known as Ninyez Tabz, in what the party describes as a fresh case of enforced disappearance targeting government critics.

In a statement shared on social media, NUP Secretary General David Rubongoya said Natumanya was picked up from Kamwokya by unidentified individuals and taken away in what he referred to as a “drone,” a term commonly used in Uganda to describe unmarked security vehicles.

“We’ve just been informed of the abduction of Ninye Tabz from Kamwokya a short while ago. He has been whisked away in a drone. The lawlessness continues!” Rubongoya stated.

Natumanya Andrew, who has built a following for his outspoken commentary on social media platform X, is known for posts that frequently criticize government officials and institutions.

His online activity has often placed him at the center of heated political exchanges.

Recently, he was involved in a public online dispute with State Minister for Local Government Justine Nameere, further amplifying attention around his commentary and political stance.

He is also identified with the opposition-aligned National Unity Platform.

The incident has sparked concern among supporters and human rights observers, who have in recent years raised alarm over reported cases of abductions involving government critics.

However, authorities have not yet issued an official statement confirming or denying the claims surrounding Natumanya’s whereabouts.

As of now, the circumstances surrounding Natumanya’s alleged abduction remain unclear, with no independent confirmation of his location or the identity of those who reportedly took him.

The development adds to ongoing political tension in the country, where digital activists and journalists continue to play an increasingly influential role in shaping public discourse, often under heightened scrutiny from state institutions.
