Concern is mounting over the health of Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago after his lawyer, Medard Lubega Sseggona, confirmed that he is experiencing severe pain and physical weakness while receiving treatment at Mulago National Referral Hospital.
Sseggona, who visited Lukwago on Friday, said the detained city leader was in significant discomfort, particularly around the area where he previously underwent surgery in India.
He added that the situation has raised concern among his legal team and medical professionals attending to him.
“He is in pain. He is weak. We need prayers. The doctors and experts at Mulago have done a wonderful job. They are managing the situation to the extent that they can,” Sseggona said, noting that the medical team was doing everything possible under the circumstances.
According to the lawyer, Lukwago has undergone a series of medical examinations since being admitted, but the results were not yet available by the time he left the hospital.
The pending results are expected to guide further treatment and determine the next course of action.
“A number of tests have been conducted, and we haven't received the results, at least by the time I left earlier this afternoon,” Sseggona added.
Lukwago was reportedly taken to hospital while still in detention after his condition deteriorated, prompting concern from his legal team and supporters who have been closely monitoring developments.
