Kampala | June 27, 2026 — Model and activist Judith Heard has issued an emotional prayer message following growing public concern over the reported disappearance of veteran rights advocate and former minister Miria Matembe.

In a statement shared early Friday morning, Heard called for divine protection over Matembe, her family, and the country, as uncertainty continues over her whereabouts following reports of a security operation at her residence.

“Good morning Beloved. Father God. Today, we lift up Mama Miria Matembe into Your hands,” Heard wrote.

She added that Matembe’s situation is not hidden from divine knowledge, urging for her safety and safe return.

“Lord, You know exactly where she is, and nothing is hidden from Your sight. We ask that Your hand of protection rest upon her. Surround her with Your peace, preserve her life, and bring her safely back to her loved ones,” she stated.

Matembe, a well-known Ugandan feminist and governance critic, has been the subject of public concern after media reports indicated she may have gone missing following an alleged raid at her home in Kampala.

Family members have reportedly expressed uncertainty about her location, triggering calls from activists for official clarification.

Heard also extended her message to Matembe’s family, urging strength and comfort during the period of uncertainty.

“We also pray for her family. Strengthen them, comfort them, and remind them that You are near even in moments of uncertainty,” she said.

She further broadened her appeal to national reflection, calling for peace and protection for those speaking out on justice issues.

“Father, we lift up Uganda before You. We ask for Your mercy over our nation. Protect those who speak for justice, give wisdom to our leaders, and let peace prevail throughout the land,” Heard added.

Citing scripture, she referenced Psalm 46:1, stating: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

The statement has since circulated widely on social media, adding to rising public attention around Matembe’s situation. Human rights advocates and civic voices have continued to press authorities for official communication regarding her status.

For now, Matembe’s whereabouts remain unconfirmed publicly, while concern from public figures like Heard reflects growing anxiety within Uganda’s civic space.
