Junior Staff Member at Parliament Reveals How Anita Among’s Inner Circle Suffered a Double Loss After Her Controversial Exit

A quiet but noticeable shift is unfolding within Parliament following the exit of former Speaker Anita Annet Among, with insiders describing a reconfiguration of influence networks and workplace relationships that had previously revolved around her leadership.

Sources within the parliamentary administration indicate that individuals who once formed part of the former Speaker’s close circle are now actively rebuilding ties with colleagues and senior supervisors whose authority and influence had earlier been sidelined during her tenure.

The shift, according to staff familiar with internal dynamics, reflects both political and personal recalibration after a period marked by strong hierarchical loyalty structures within the institution.

“Some of them have suffered a double loss. First, they lost political patrons when some MPs were defeated in January’s elections. Then they lost the support they expected from Among as Chairperson of the Parliamentary Commission,” a junior staff member said.

The comment points to a broader realignment that has followed recent electoral changes, where some legislators aligned to the former Speaker lost their seats, weakening established networks of patronage within the House.

This has been compounded by Among’s departure from the speakership, a position that had placed her at the centre of administrative and political decision-making in Parliament.

Several staff members now describe a more cautious environment, where previously rigid alliances are giving way to renewed efforts at professional cooperation across departments.

Individuals who were once perceived as closely aligned to the former Speaker are reportedly seeking to restore working relationships with supervisors and colleagues they had distanced themselves from during her tenure.
