Exiled Ugandan lawyer and activist Kakwenza Rukirabashaija has sharply criticized President Yoweri Museveni’s government for its lavish spending on vehicles for public officials, calling attention to the burden it places on Ugandan taxpayers.
His remarks come amid growing concerns over government expenditures, especially in light of the country’s current economic difficulties and increasing public debt.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Kakwenza compared the past and present practices of providing vehicles to government officers. He recalled a time before Museveni's rise to power when government employees, including officials and officers, were responsible for purchasing their own cars through loans.
The government would then reimburse them for official mileage, but the officials themselves were expected to cover the cost of the vehicles.GET FULL STORY HERE.
