A new layer has emerged in the growing online confrontation involving Justine Nameere, after the legislator issued a sharp response to investigative journalist Natumanya Andrew, accusing him of issuing threats and attempting to blackmail her through social media exchanges.

The exchange follows Natumanya’s earlier warning demanding that Nameere apologise to Nation Media Group executive Susan Nsibirwa, or face what he described as potential disclosures of unspecified “receipts.”

The remarks triggered a strongly worded reaction from the MP, who framed the comments as unlawful intimidation.

In her response, Nameere accused the journalist of attempting to pressure her into silence through coercive tactics and warned that his conduct could attract legal consequences under laws governing threatening violence.

“I am going to teach you about a Law called threatening violence! You have 30 minutes to delete these threats or face the real law!!” she stated.

She further claimed that Natumanya was attempting to manipulate public attention through repeated attacks directed at her.

According to Nameere, she had initially chosen to ignore the journalist’s remarks but felt compelled to respond after continued online engagement.

“You have struggled so bad to black mail me and get my attention! I ignored u but still u won't respect my silence because it is w completely different language that people like u understand!” she added.

The MP also linked the exchange to broader concerns about conduct on social media, arguing that online criticism has increasingly crossed into what she described as indiscipline.

She suggested that public sentiment was shifting in her favour as users became more aware of online confrontations involving political figures.

“Ugandans are slowly realizing that social media bullies like u don't respect silence, that is why they are taking my side in as much yo shouting indiscipline! Indiscipline!” she stated.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Nameere and Natumanya, who recently issued a public warning calling on the MP to apologise over her allegations against Nsibirwa or risk further disclosures.

Natumanya had suggested he possessed undisclosed information that could escalate the dispute further, a claim that has now become central to the ongoing disagreement.

The dispute has drawn attention within media and political circles, with concerns raised over the increasing use of social platforms for direct confrontations between public figures.

Nsibirwa, whose name has been drawn into the controversy, has previously indicated she is considering legal action over allegations made against her, describing them as defamatory.
