The Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has stated that he intends to arrest former minister Miria Matembe, whose whereabouts remain unknown following a recent security operation at her residence in Kampala.
In a series of posts shared on X, Muhoozi made direct reference to Matembe while outlining his position.
“I'm going to arrest her today. Mzee hardly thinks of people like her,” he wrote, indicating a planned move against the former government official.
The remarks come days after security operatives conducted a raid at Matembe’s home in Luzira.
According to her family, she was not present during the operation, and her location has not been publicly confirmed since then.
Muhoozi also made additional comments about Matembe in the same series of posts, though he did not provide details regarding any formal charges or legal basis for the proposed arrest.
Matembe, a former Minister for Ethics and Integrity, has remained active in public discourse, often commenting on governance and political developments in Uganda.
Her absence following the security raid has raised questions about her status, though there has been no confirmation from official sources regarding her situation.
The developments are unfolding within a broader context of heightened political activity in the country, including increased security operations involving political figures and activists.
