President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has conveyed a message of condolence to the government and people of Venezuela following a series of devastating earthquakes that have reportedly caused significant loss of life and widespread destruction.

In an official statement, Museveni expressed sympathy on behalf of both the Ugandan government and its citizens, describing the earthquakes as a “natural catastrophe” that had resulted in “colossal loss of life, multiple casualties and damage to property and infrastructure.”

He noted that the disaster had deeply affected communities across parts of the South American country.

The Ugandan leader emphasized solidarity between the two nations during what he termed a “trying moment,” stating that Ugandans stand with their “Venezuelan brothers and sisters” as they grapple with the aftermath of the disaster.

He also extended well wishes to those injured, expressing hope for their quick recovery.

Museveni acknowledged ongoing rescue operations in the affected regions, expressing optimism that efforts by emergency teams would help prevent further escalation of the already rising death toll.

“We pray that the ongoing search and rescue efforts succeed,” he said, underscoring the urgency of humanitarian intervention in disaster-hit areas.

The president further highlighted the emotional toll of the tragedy, describing the grief and loss experienced by families as “unimaginable.”

He assured the Venezuelan people that Uganda’s thoughts and prayers remain with them as they mourn loved ones and begin the process of rebuilding.

The message concluded with a spiritual note, as Museveni prayed for eternal rest for those who lost their lives in the earthquakes, invoking divine comfort for the bereaved families.

Uganda’s statement adds to a growing list of international responses following the disaster, with several countries and global organizations expressing support and readiness to assist Venezuela in recovery efforts.

The extent of the damage and the final casualty figures are still being assessed as rescue operations continue. Authorities in Venezuela are expected to provide further updates as more information becomes available.
