KAMPALA — Fresh political intrigue is emerging around the office of the Leader of the Opposition after Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) figure David Kabanda reportedly suggested that major changes could soon alter the leadership landscape in Parliament.
According to sources familiar with ongoing political discussions, attention has shifted to possible reforms that could make it easier for opposition Members of Parliament to remove their own Leader of the Opposition, a move that could have significant implications for current office holder Joel Ssenyonyi.
The developments come months after a controversial proposal championed by Mawokota South MP Richard Lumu failed to gain traction.
