National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has reportedly extended his stay outside Uganda for an additional month amid growing political uncertainty and claims of pressure aimed at forcing him into talks with President Yoweri Museveni.

According to information shared by the opposition leader, he has delegated the day-to-day leadership of the party to his deputy, Lina Zedriga, who will continue overseeing NUP affairs from June 16, 2026, until July 16, 2026. The move effectively prolongs Kyagulanyi’s absence from the country at a time when Uganda’s political environment remains highly charged.

Sources close to the opposition leader claim that his decision was influenced by reports suggesting that some political actors within the Inter-Party Organisation for Dialogue (IPOD) wanted him to meet President Museveni as part of efforts to resolve disputes surrounding the allocation of IPOD funding. The reports further alleged that Democratic Party president Norbert Mao and other IPOD officials were among those pushing for such a meeting.GET FULL STORY HERE.
