National Unity Platform (NUP) president Bobi Wine has celebrated his wife, Barbie Kyagulanyi, with a heartfelt birthday message, reflecting on their years together and the challenges they have faced as a family.
In a message shared to mark Barbie’s birthday, the Ugandan opposition leader described his wife as a blessing and expressed gratitude for her continued presence throughout their journey together.
Bobi Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, said the couple had experienced both joyful and difficult moments but remained committed to each other.
He recalled how they had “walked through rose gardens and through hellfire,” while also sharing moments of laughter and periods of deep sorrow.
The NUP leader said their journey had included times when they laughed until their stomachs hurt and others when they cried until their eyes were red.
Despite the challenges, he emphasised that they had remained together and continued choosing one another.
“Sometimes I wonder what I ever did to deserve a blessing like you,” Bobi Wine said in his birthday tribute.
He further praised Barbie for what she had meant to him over the course of their life together, saying he believed even one lifetime would not be enough to love her or adequately reward her for her support.
Bobi Wine also extended his birthday wishes beyond his wife, praying for blessings upon Barbie, their children and future generations of their family.
“So I pray that God’s blessings follow you, our children and our grandchildren, through every generation,” he said.
He concluded the message with a direct declaration of his affection, wishing Barbie a happy birthday and telling her that he loved her.
The public tribute comes as Bobi Wine continues to balance his role as a prominent opposition figure in Uganda with his family life.
Barbie Kyagulanyi has remained a visible figure alongside her husband, often supporting him during his political activities and publicly advocating on social and family-related issues.
Their relationship has also attracted considerable public attention over the years, particularly as Bobi Wine has emerged as one of Uganda’s most prominent opposition politicians.
