Parliament Speaker Anita Among has joined senior National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders to formally present President Yoweri Museveni with a certificate of victory following his win in the party’s presidential race.

The ceremony was held at President Museveni’s country home in Rwakitura, bringing together top party officials and members of the NRM leadership to mark the conclusion of the internal electoral process.

Museveni, who is also the party leader, was declared President-elect after securing what party officials described as a decisive victory.

Speaking after the event, Among congratulated Museveni on behalf of Parliament, residents of Bukedea District, and in her personal capacity.

She credited the outcome to coordinated efforts within the party, singling out the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC), the party secretariat, and leaders at various levels for their role in mobilization and organization.

Among also acknowledged the contribution of NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong and his team, noting their role in managing party structures and overseeing the electoral process.

She further recognized First Lady Janet Museveni for supporting the President during an intensive campaign period.

The Speaker praised Museveni for actively engaging in party activities and for remaining open to ideas from other leaders, a trait she said had strengthened internal cohesion within the ruling party.

She concluded by attributing the victory to divine intervention, thanking God for guiding the party through the process.

The presentation of the certificate now formally clears Museveni to fly the NRM flag in the next phase of the country’s electoral cycle, as the party prepares for national campaigns amid heightened political activity across Uganda.
