President Paul Kagame of Rwanda has congratulated Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on his re-election, affirming the commitment of both countries to sustained bilateral cooperation.

In a statement posted on social media, Kagame extended his best wishes to Museveni and the people of Uganda, highlighting the importance of their partnership in promoting regional stability and prosperity.

“Congratulations President Kaguta Museveni on your re-election as President of the Republic of Uganda. I extend my best wishes to you and the people of Uganda as you continue to serve your nation for the prosperity of your people. I look forward to the continued strong and productive cooperation between our two countries,” Kagame wrote.

The congratulatory message comes shortly after Uganda’s electoral commission confirmed Museveni’s victory, extending his tenure as one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders.

Kagame’s remarks signal Rwanda’s intent to maintain and strengthen diplomatic, economic, and security ties with its northern neighbor.

Analysts say such gestures of goodwill are key to fostering regional integration within the East African Community, where Rwanda and Uganda have shared interests in trade, infrastructure development, and cross-border security initiatives.

Kagame’s statement underscores a mutual commitment to dialogue and collaboration, signaling a diplomatic approach to addressing past differences while focusing on common goals.

The message also reflects broader regional stability efforts, emphasizing leadership continuity, cooperative governance, and the pursuit of shared prosperity for East African citizens.
