National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has called on party supporters to join a large-scale phone campaign aimed at boosting voter turnout ahead of upcoming elections.

In a statement shared on X, Bobi Wine outlined a strategy for NUP members and sympathizers to make 50 phone calls each to friends, family, colleagues, and acquaintances.

“If 100,000 NUP supporters and well-wishers can call 50 people each, we shall be able to reach five million people with the MESSAGE in one day,” he said, emphasizing the role of citizens in safeguarding their votes and protecting the party’s electoral success.

The campaign is designed to engage both residents in Uganda and the Diaspora, encouraging direct voter-to-voter outreach.

Bobi Wine urged participants to not only remind voters to turn up at polling stations but also to actively guard their votes and ensure the integrity of the process.

“This is an opportunity for everyone at home and in the Diaspora to campaign directly,” he said, framing the initiative as a step toward fostering civic consciousness and participation in shaping what he calls “#ANewUgandaNow.”

Political analysts note that the strategy reflects a growing trend in Ugandan politics where parties leverage grassroots and diaspora networks to maximize voter engagement.

The initiative, if widely adopted, could significantly expand NUP’s outreach in a single day, highlighting the party’s focus on mobilizing citizens beyond traditional rallies and media campaigns.

Bobi Wine’s call to action underscores NUP’s commitment to participatory politics and its reliance on supporters to drive nationwide electoral engagement.
