Members of Uganda’s 12th Parliament gathered for a formal dinner on Friday evening to mark the 52nd birthday of the Chief of Defence Forces, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, in an event that brought together legislators and senior government figures in a display of institutional recognition of his military service.

The event, held in the capital, was also attended by Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, who delivered a message of appreciation highlighting Muhoozi’s long-standing role in the country’s defence establishment and his leadership of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces.

In her statement, Among described the evening as a moment of reflection and celebration for what she termed his “lifelong dedication” to national service.

She credited the military chief for his leadership of men and women in uniform, noting their continued role in what she called patriotic duties.

“We had a wonderful evening at the dinner held for Members of the 12th Parliament to commemorate the 52nd birthday of our Chief of Defence Forces,” she said, adding her gratitude to MPs who attended and organisers who facilitated the event.

The Speaker also extended personal birthday wishes to Muhoozi, expressing hope for continued good health and long service to the nation. Her remarks underscored the close interaction between Parliament and the military leadership in formal state engagements.

Beyond the birthday celebrations, Among used the occasion to encourage MPs and attendees to participate in a planned Sunday charity initiative dubbed the “Run for Hope,” aimed at supporting vulnerable communities.

She called on participants to show solidarity through the activity, which is expected to attract public participation and advocacy for social welfare causes.

The dinner comes at a time when Muhoozi’s public profile remains high in Uganda’s political and security discourse. His role as Chief of Defence Forces continues to place him at the centre of national security operations, while his broader influence remains a subject of public discussion across the region.

The celebration of his 52nd birthday at a parliamentary event highlights the continued intersection between Uganda’s political leadership and its military establishment.
