Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has congratulated President Yoweri Museveni following his swearing-in for another term, describing his leadership as instrumental in steering the country’s progress.

In a statement issued shortly after the inauguration ceremony held Tuesday at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala, Among praised Museveni’s continued stewardship and called for unity in supporting his agenda.

“Congratulations, Mzee Wa Kazi, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, on your inauguration as the leader of our esteemed nation for another term,” Among said. “I wish you continued good health and prudent leadership, which has revitalised our nation and established a consistent course of progress.”

The Speaker’s message came as Uganda marked the beginning of a new presidential term following a ceremony attended by thousands of citizens, government officials, and foreign dignitaries.

The event, which ran from morning to early afternoon, featured military displays and the formal administration of the oath of office.

Among aligned her message with broader national sentiment, noting that many Ugandans were rallying behind the President’s leadership.

“I join millions of Ugandans from diverse backgrounds in praying for your well-being and steadfastly supporting and following your transformative agenda,” she added.

Her remarks reflect the position of key government figures who have consistently credited Museveni with maintaining stability and driving development in the country.

The ceremony itself was held under the theme of protecting national gains while advancing Uganda toward high middle-income status.

Museveni, who has been in power for decades, used the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to economic transformation and continuity in governance.

The inauguration also attracted significant international attention, with multiple foreign delegations in attendance, underscoring Uganda’s diplomatic engagements.
