Victoria University Vice Chancellor Lawrence Muganga has formally accepted his appointment as Uganda’s new Minister of State for Internal Affairs, pledging to prioritize national security and public safety in his new role.
In a statement released shortly after his inclusion in President Yoweri Museveni’s latest cabinet lineup, Muganga expressed gratitude for the opportunity, describing the appointment as both an honour and a significant responsibility.
He acknowledged the weight of expectations tied to the position, noting that the role directly impacts the safety of communities and the country’s broader stability.
“With a grateful heart, I sincerely thank His Excellency President Yoweri Museveni for appointing me,” Muganga said, adding that he does not take the responsibility lightly.
He emphasized that the appointment reflects the trust placed in him to contribute to Uganda’s governance and security framework.
Muganga, who has built a reputation in the education sector, particularly through his leadership at Victoria University, now transitions into government at a time when internal security remains a key priority for the administration.
