As Uganda prepares for President-elect Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s inauguration on Tuesday, the government has renewed calls for calm, unity, and a forward-looking national agenda anchored on digital transformation.
The swearing-in ceremony, scheduled for May 12 at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, is expected to draw tens of thousands of attendees, including regional leaders, diplomats, and government officials.
Authorities say preparations are in advanced stages, with heightened security and logistical arrangements already in place.
In a statement issued ahead of the event, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance Aminah Zawedde congratulated Museveni on his electoral victory and urged citizens to maintain peace during the transition period.
“I join all Ugandans in congratulating H.E. @KagutaMuseveni on his victory. As we approach the swearing-in ceremony, let us uphold the peace and stability that makes Uganda a prime destination for investment,” she said
Her remarks come at a time when Uganda is positioning itself as a competitive investment destination in the region, with stability cited as a key driver of economic growth and investor confidence.
Zawedde also outlined the government’s priorities for the next five years, placing strong emphasis on technology and innovation as tools for national development
“The next five years are about digital transformation, embracing emerging digital technologies to ensure efficient service delivery for every Ugandan,” she added.
The statement signals a continued push by the government to digitise public services, expand connectivity, and integrate technology across key sectors of the economy be v.
Museveni’s will mark the beginning of a new term expected to focus on economic expansion, industrialisation, and service delivery reforms.
The ceremony will run from morning to early afternoon, with multiple high-level delegations expected to attend.
Meanwhile, security agencies have intensified surveillance and restricted access to key roads leading to Kololo, limiting entry to accredited guests and essential personnel.
