Exiled writer and activist Kakwenza Rukirabashaija has weighed in on emerging reports that former Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among is in poor health, issuing a strongly worded and highly critical reaction that has triggered renewed debate online.

The comments come after claims circulated on social media suggesting that Among is suffering from a serious medical condition affecting her mobility, including allegations that she may be unable to walk.

In a post shared on his social media platforms, Kakwenza used the health reports to revisit long-standing political grievances, linking the former Speaker to past allegations of corruption and misuse of public resources during her tenure.

He referenced the controversial construction of Bukedea Hospital, alleging that it was associated with the misuse of public funds and political patronage.

Kakwenza further accused the former Speaker of using state-linked projects to elevate political allies and consolidate influence, claims that remain politically charged and contested in public discourse.

While reacting to the reported illness, Kakwenza’s statement took a confrontational tone, suggesting that public figures should be held accountable for their past actions.

He framed the situation as symbolic of broader governance failures and elite impunity, arguing that health challenges should not erase public scrutiny over alleged misconduct in office.

Muhammad Nsereko, a former Kampala Central MP, had earlier made separate claims suggesting that Among was suffering from blood clot complications and required urgent medical attention, further fueling public discussion.
